Reuters and UBS PaineWebber extend wealth management technology deal

Reuters has won a three-and-a-half-year contract extension to further re-engineer the desktop technology of UBS PaineWebber for the provision of Web-based financial advisory services.

Over the last year Reuters has collaborated with the US wealth manager on the development of a next generation, Web-based information service, Reuters Plus Web for ConsultWorks v2. ConsultWorks is UBS PaineWebber's proprietory advisor productivity software, located on the desktop of 15,000 staff nationwide.

ConsultWorks v2 includes a new generation of productivity and workflow tools and gives brokers access to proprietary data in addition to Reuters Plus US equities information. Financial advisors can navigate between client information and analytics, market information, news, research, and transaction capabilities enabling financial advisors to more effectively service their clients.

The long-standing relationship between the two companies began in 1994, and through Reuters acquisition of Quotron dates back to 1978.
