BofA revamps mobile app; introduces fingerprint sign-in

Bank of America has given its mobile app a refresh, enabling customers to log in with their fingerprints and access accounts via the Apple Watch.

The new fingerprint and Touch ID sign-in capabilities mean that customers with compatible Android, iPhone and iPad devices can log in to the app without a passcode.

Meanwhile, Apple Watch compatibility means users can view balances and recent transactions for their linked checking, savings, credit card and investment accounts, as well as receive real-time alerts and notifications on their wrist.

In addition, BofA has rolled out a new security centre for online and mobile customers, letting them manage their settings in one place and opt into an extra feature that uses a one-time authorisation code sent via text or email each time they sign in.

Michelle Moore, head, digital banking, BofA, says: "We continue to deliver enhancements that provide our customers a more seamless and secure banking experience. This is another example of how we are helping our mobile and online banking users simplify their financial lives."

The bank currently counts more than 18 million active mobile users, growing at a rate of approximately 5000 sign-ups per day.
