Latest RBS, NatWest and Ulster Bank glitch hits mobile apps

RBS, NatWest and Ulster Bank customers have been hit by yet another technical glitch, this time locking them out of their mobile banking apps.

The banking group's various Twitter handles confirmed at around 9.00am that a "technical problem" was preventing both personal and business users from logging in to their apps:

The issue has since been fixed for Android users but apps on other operating systems are still unavailable at pixel time:

Earlier this month RBS customers were left unable to withdraw cash from ATMs, make card payments or access Internet and phone banking for several hours after a technical meltdown at the group.

That came less than a year after a bungled software update at the banking group saw a huge payments backlog develop, causing chaos for account holders.

On Twitter, some customers appear to be reaching breaking point:

The Daily Mail has suggested that the latest outage could be linked to the massive Spamhaus cyber-attack which has slowed the world's Internet but a bank spokesman told the tabloid that the two events are not "understood" to be related.

The Nat West app seems to be working now.

Looks like they've been burning the midnight oil over the Bank Holiday w/e.
