Russian bank issues Angry Birds card

Game developer Rovio is spreading its wings, teaming up with Russia's Promsvyazbank on an Angry Birds branded debit card.

The MasterCard cards, featuring images of the game's characters, will see users get a 10% discount on Angry Birds-branded products, according to Associated Press.

The bank is printing 50,000 cards for the launch early next month but, with Russians reportedly rushing to request them, it hopes to issue twice as many by the end of the year.

Since first appearing in Apple's App Store in 2009, the Angry Birds game has moved to other platforms and been downloaded more than a billion times. The success has prompted Finish maker Rovio to cash in with merchandise such as toys and books and now the debit card.
