PayPal is opening a European operations centre in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, creating 1000 jobs over the next four years.

The centre is set to open in July after receiving support from the government through IDA Ireland. It will add to PayPal's existing 1400-strong workforce at its Dublin-based European headquarters.

The Dublin and Dundalk sites will be responsible for customer service, risk prevention, financial operations, merchant services and sales across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The company is seeking to fill roles in customer support, operations, finance, sales and compliance.

Louise Phelan, VP, global operations Emea, PayPal, says: "Our vision is to help people pay for things anytime, anywhere and on any type of electronic device. We're reimagining money to work better for consumers and businesses at a time when the line between the online world and the high street is breaking down. Our new teammates in Dundalk and Dublin will help us create the future of money."
