Wireless operator Orange will next month start selling a contactless version of the Samsung Galaxy S II in France.

The Galaxy S II becomes the latest Orange handset designed for its Cityzi customers, the brand working to bring contactless services to France.

The telco has been marketing Cityzi mobiles throughout France since February and has signed up more than 150,000 Orange customers, enabling them to use handsets to make NFC payments, travel on public transport and take advantage of couponing and tag reading offers.

Meanwhile, a new generation of secure SIMs will soon be rolled out nationally and the company is working with equipment manufacturers to ensure that more than half of the new smartphone models are compatible with the contactless services.
