Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced today a seven city tour to celebrate the launch of Samsung Pay in the United States.

Samsung will give consumers in Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles a special opportunity to unlock special offers and prizes through Samsung Pay. At each stop, Samsung will partner with local retailers to provide discounts on items, hands-on activities and other experiences to give consumers an opportunity to interact with Samsung Pay to demonstrate the convenience and safety of the service, which can be used to pay almost anywhere you can swipe or tap your compatible cards.

“Where better to showcase the most widely-accepted mobile payment service than at merchants and retailers in some of America’s most vibrant and iconic cities,” said Narayanan Murugesan, VP of Strategy and Operations, Samsung Electronics America. “From Austin to Atlanta, from coffee shops to taco stands, Samsung Pay lets Galaxy owners pay with a wallet that’s already in their hands—on the card terminals retailers already have. It’s simple, safe, and accepted almost anywhere you can swipe or tap your card.”

Samsung is kicking the tour off at Austin City Limits Music Festival with a special Samsung Pay Block Party today, Thursday, October 1 at the brand new South Congress Hotel and will keep the party going throughout the entire weekend with new unique and rewarding experiences for music fans. Samsung Pay - the official mobile payment solution for the festival - will make it easier for festival-goers to pay for food, drinks and souvenirs with their phone. To celebrate the launch, festival-goers with compatible cards can use Samsung Pay on their Samsung phone (Galaxy S6, S6 edge, Note5 or S6 edge+) to get ACL gear at a 50% discount at any of the Samsung Pay Stands in the Galaxy Experience and Galaxy Owners Lounge on the festival grounds.

Additional tour stops include:

Dallas: October 9th - 11th
Atlanta: October 16th - 18th
New York: October 23rd - 25th
Chicago: October 30th - Nov 1st
San Francisco: November 6th - 8th
Los Angeles: November 13th - 15th

Samsung Pay will work on Galaxy S6, S6 edge, Note5 and S6 edge+ devices operating on the AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular networks in the United States.

SIMPLE: To make a payment on Samsung Pay, users can simply swipe up, scan their fingerprint and pay.
SAFE: Samsung Pay uses tokenization, Samsung KNOX, and fingerprint authentication to provide secure payments. And, as terminals are upgraded to EMV, that security is leveraged too.
ALMOST ANYWHERE: Samsung Pay is compatible with most existing and new terminals, including most magnetic stripe, EMV and NFC terminals. That means Samsung Pay works at more places than any other mobile payment service.

Extensive partnership ecosystem

To participate initially, consumers need to have a participating MasterCard, Visa or American Express card issued by Bank of America, Citi, American Express or U.S. Bank. Samsung Pay also offers merchant credit cards through its relationship with Synchrony Financial and additionally, works with acquirers including First Data, Global Payments and TSYS. Over time, Samsung Pay will continue to expand its partnership ecosystem to provide greater flexibility, access, and choice for customers.
