UL is proud to release the UL Brand Test Tool 5.0. This improved and rebranded test tool helps to validate whether a payment acceptance device (POS and ATM) meets the requirements set by the major payment networks supporting the contact, contactless and magnetic stripe card interface.

The new test project configurator and support for magnetic stripe emulation make it the first tool in the market that offers fully automated testing of a payment terminal over all card interfaces making terminal certification process easier.

The trusted UL Brand Test Tool, previously known as the Collis Brand Test Tool, has been in the market for over 15 years making it widely used among acquirers, processors, merchants and terminal vendors. It enables to easily and successfully perform the brand testing processes as required by the payment brands. This helps to ensure interoperability of card acceptance globally for trouble-free payment transactions.

UL is proud to introduce the renewed, improved and rebranded UL Brand Test Tool. The new test project configurator allows you to set up your brand testing projects easily. This makes the complex brand certification process easier for all major payment brands supported: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, UnionPay, JCB and Interac as well many other domestic brands. Projects can be easily exported and imported to other UL Brand Test Tools and UL Self-Test Platforms. This allows you to run your projects more efficiently.

This new version supports contact and contactless payment transaction simulation. UL’s SmartLink, SmartWave and the new SmartStripe device (emulating magnetic stripe) can be used for this. This takes away the need of any physical test card, making UL Brand Test Tool the first tool in the market that offers fully automated testing of a payment terminal over all card interfaces.

undefined“This new version of the UL Brand Test Tool builds on the top of the core test engine and the qualified test scripts, making payment acceptance devices testing even easier to conduct before connecting to the major payment networks. We are confident that our customers will benefit from the UL Brand Test Tool 5.0 as it will help them reduce the time to market, ease their payment acceptance device testing, and increase their confidence, during brand testing. The new version of the tool is available through our service site free of charge for customers having an active services contract” adds Maxim Dyachenko, Director Test Tools at UL’s Transaction Security division.

Besides supporting traditional payment cards, the UL Brand Test Tool now also supports simulation of mobile device applications, NFC tags, HCE and Cloud-based, eSE, UICC, mSD, smart wearables and any other form factor that an acquirer would like to use to test a payment terminal on the acceptance of these payment products.

UL’s Transaction Security division is committed to rebrand all Collis and Aspects test tools. UL’s test tool portfolio is the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio when it comes to certifications by industry bodies and payments schemes. The name change will not affect the tools in way of ability or performance. All test cases in UL-branded tools are fully compliant with all industry body regulations, as was the case with the Collis and Aspects-branded predecessors. In addition, all purchase processes remain the same.
