Merchant Customer Exchange LLC (MCX), developer of the Current mobile payment platform, today announced a strategic relationship with Inmar, Inc., experts in promotions management and processing, that will allow CurrentC users to find and redeem product-level digital promotions.

These digital promotions will be applied automatically at checkout, allowing consumers to use their mobile devices seamlessly.

Inmar will leverage its extensive manufacturer relationships, digital coupon technologies and promotional expertise to provide MCX with content, offer management services, and processing and settlement solutions. This partnership will enable CurrentC users to effortlessly access savings from many of the country’s largest and most popular brands.

In working with Inmar to make manufacturer coupons available to CurrentC users, MCX is charting new ground in the mobile commerce space. While promotions are already part of the mobile pay user-experience, access to individual brand offers that are redeemable through a mobile payment app at multiple retailers will distinguish CurrentC from other platforms currently in the marketplace. In this way, Inmar brings significant, additional value directly to consumers using CurrentC.

A number of top consumer packaged goods companies (CPGs) have already engaged with Inmar to provide MCX with offers spanning a variety of product categories. The number and collective value of offers will continue to grow as CurrentC prepares to broaden its Beta rollout in Columbus, Ohio in the coming weeks.

“Continuously increasing the volume of savings and other offers will further establish CurrentC as a unique source for savings opportunities and drive accelerated consumer adoption,” said Brian Mooney, Chief Executive Officer, MCX. “Inmar’s technology allows us to provide users with product-specific offers, which means CurrentC will be both an easier way to pay and an easier way to save,” added Mooney.

Digital, paperless coupons are increasingly popular with shoppers. Redemption of these types of offers increased 57 percent in the first half of 2015, compared to a year earlier. At this rate, digital coupons are on pace to see a fifth straight year of greater than 50 percent growth in redemption. Easily acquired by shoppers and easily deployed by brands and retailers, digital coupons are becoming the primary promotion method for reaching an increasingly mobile shopper base.

“MCX’s ability to deliver manufacturer offers to shoppers via the CurrentC mobile payment platform is unique in the industry and represents an important new way for CPGs to reach mobile audiences with offers and other promotional content,” said David Mounts, Chairman and CEO of Inmar. “We are excited to bring our expertise in promotion development and execution to this relationship and enable delivery of meaningful savings to consumers through the CurrentC platform.”
