Electra Information Systems, an asset management software provider, has opened a new office in St. Petersburg, Florida, US, for business continuity planning (BCP) and operational resiliency purposes.

The new Florida office will be headed up by L. Andy Gnibus, Electra’s data services manager.

It seeks to support the global operations of the asset management software provider and its cloud-based clients from natural disasters or other unpredictable threats, by diversifying the organisation’s operational base.

“Financial institutions need to be prepared for the unknown and the potential impact that disruptive events can have on their processes and operations,” said Scott Rhodes, Chief Operating Officer at Electra.

“It is no longer sufficient to have a simple disaster recovery plan. Through this strategic investment to diversify our geographical locations, we are ensuring that Electra, along with our clients and partners, are prepared for significant events in order to prevent disruption to crucial operations.”

The expansion follows the opening of Electra’s London, UK, office in 2013. The firm expanded to London as a result of its growing client base in the EMEA region.

“The opening of the Florida office demonstrates our on-going commitment to the buy-side community, which relies on Electra for solutions and services in reconciliation, data acquisition and transformation, post-trade comms and revenue management,” said Electra’s CEO, John Landry.
