Identity fraudsters stole $16 billion from 12.7 million Americans last year, with a new victim every two seconds, according to Javelin Strategy & Research.

MasterCard has been contracted by the Egyptian government to roll out a digital ID programme that links citizens’ national ID to the country's existing mobile money platform.

Ingenico has released an audio jack-based point-of-sale dongle that can accept payments made by mobile phone.

Visa is to work with Bharti Airtel to extend its mobile money service to seven markets in Africa, including Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, Seychelles and Tanzania.
