Mobile payments company Fortumo is working closely with Microsoft Corp. to give Windows 8 developers flexible payout options for in-app payments, and is waiving its commission for six months.

The offer is valid for developers who integrate Fortumo's in-app payments by May 31st 2013.

Fortumo was one of the first in-app payments providers to support Windows 8, launching its service just five days after the general availability of the new operating system.

"Fortumo's solution works well in Windows 8 apps, providing a familiar and easy-to-use interface for users. Making payments only requires the user to have a mobile phone - no additional registration is required," says Martin Koppel, Co-Founder & Chief Revenue Officer of Fortumo. "The hassle-free, smooth payment process increases conversion, giving developers who have already jumped on Windows 8 a great opportunity to make additional profit from their apps."

"Windows Store has already seen great traction with developers due to its unprecedented reach in over 200 markets. Microsoft's flexibility in monetization and industry-leading revenue sharing gives Windows 8 developers greater potential and more control over their revenue," said John Richards, senior director Windows App Marketing for Microsoft."Through the relationship with Fortumo, there are more opportunities for developers to monetize users in emerging markets."

Fortumo will waive its commission for the first six months for all developers who integrate Fortumo's billing software development kit (SDK) by May 31st 2013. The 180-day period will begin after the service goes live for users. Additional information about the offer can be found at http://fortumo.com/windows8.

Fortumo's system works via mobile operator billing, wherein customers pay for digital goods via their mobile operator bill. Mobile operator billing is a strong alternative to credit cards, especially in the emerging markets. Fortumo has payment connectivity to over 300 mobile operators in 80 countries, including a number of exclusive direct carrier billing partnerships. Mobile operator billing is available for over 4 billion mobile users worldwide.

Fortumo's in-app payments are available for developers to intergrate into any Windows 8 or Windows RT app and:
● use mobile operator billing: no credit-card or registration required;
● work in nearly 80 countries;
● support payments for single items, virtual currencies and non-consumable items;
● are localized into 32 languages;
● support over 45 different currencies;
