Iress has released XPLANtouch - an app that allows financial planning clients, via their advisers, to access personal and financial data from the convenience of tablets.

"A recent overseas survey of financial services websites, conducted by mobiThinking.com, told us that inwestern markets 40% of access is via a tablet or mobile device," says Aaron  Knowles, Executive Product Manager - Wealth Management. "People are also increasingly using technology to help them manage their personal finances.

"We recognise that if consumers expect to access and manage their financial life online, and online is increasingly mobile, then mobile needs to be part of an adviser's service offering."

XPLANtouch allows a financial adviser's clients to view and update personal details; view portfolio data in tables, charts and graphs and generate a select range of branded reports on demand.

"XPLANtouch means advisers can cost-effectively provide significant value-add to their clients," Mr Knowles said. "Clients will now have adviser-branded information about their financial position, along with access to trusted resources and commentary and the ability to track their progress toward agreed goals all in the palm of their hands."

The app supports swiping through views and interactive charts and works on all tablets including the Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy and Microsoft Surface.

The app is available freely to all clients who have access to XPLAN via the client portal, Client Online Access.

"The exciting thing for advisers is that XPLANtouch and all its functions can be easily and seamlessly configured to match their own corporate branding." Mr Knowles said, "And for an additional charge per site, it can be packaged as an adviser-branded app in iTunes, Google Play or Microsoft Marketplace."

Mr Knowles said while XPLANtouch represents a significant milestone in a dedicated strategy focused on delivering mobile solutions for the XPLAN platform, it is only the first step.

"We are now developing an app that will help advisers collate data, reports and planning tools into an agenda for client meetings, as well as core productivity tools for advisers when operating mobile," he said. The adviser app is due for release in March 2013.
