WorldPay, the global leader in payment processing, risk and alternative payments today announced Mobile Payment Pages, a mobile version of Hosted Payment Pages specifically for web-enabled mobile phones and tablet devices.
Mobile Payment Pages provides merchants with the tools to display secure payment pages on mobile and tablet devices. It can be implemented out-of-the-box and the pages are fully customisable in terms of colour, text styles, language (it currently supports 23 languages) and images, so merchants can provide the same experience to their customers on a mobile device as on their website. According to the Global Online Shopper report, commissioned by WorldPay, 23% of consumers are put off shopping on a smart phone if the site is not optimised for the device.
All major card schemes, PayPal and Elektronisches Lastschrift Verfahren (ELV) are supported by Mobile Payment Pages, giving merchants the option to provide preferred payment choice to customers. It has form validation functionality so consumers get immediate feedback when they complete the payment and address details. At the end of the process, a results page will appear to show the success or cancellation of the transaction.
Fraud and payment security is a major consideration for consumers when it comes to mCommerce. The Global Online Shopper report found that 39% of consumers are concerned about the security of their personal and financial information when using a mobile device to purchase goods and services online. 3D Secure services (Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode) are supported by Mobile Payment Pages and the same robust security measures are available as on standard Hosted Payment Pages.
Merchants need to be confident that the appropriate security measures are in place to minimise fraudulent transactions. Mobile Device Identification is available for merchants in the payment message they receive. This enables the eCommerce team to identify which mobile operating system has been used, the device resolution and browser; a mobile flag is also built in to detect if a mobile device has been used for the transaction.
Philip McGriskin, chief product officer, WorldPay comments: "The global demand for mobile commerce is on the rise but consumers expect an easy-to-use, secure experience. If merchants can get this right, mCommerce presents a significant opportunity for merchants as consumers are no longer restricted to the time they spend in front of a desktop to purchase goods and services. Mobile Payment Pages has been developed based on WorldPay's Hosted Payment Pages, and is designed to provide the perfect mix of optimisation and secure, easy-to-use payment processes for mobile devices."
