Barclays today announces a broadening of its Executive Committee.

Valerie Soranno Keating, Chief Executive, Barclaycard, and Ashok Vaswani, currently Chief Executive, UK Retail and Business Banking, will join the Barclays Executive Committee, with immediate effect.

The role of Chief Executive, Retail and Business Banking, which Antony Jenkins held prior to becoming Group CEO, will cease to exist in its previous form.

Ashok will take responsibility for retail and business banking products and services globally, and Curt Hess, Chief Executive, Europe Retail and Business Banking, will report to him. Valerie will retain responsibility for cards and payments globally.

The membership of the Barclays Executive Committee will otherwise remain unchanged, and all members report to Group Chief Executive Antony Jenkins.

Commenting on the changes, Antony Jenkins said:

"These changes reflect the importance of our retail businesses for Barclays and will make for a better balance between business and functional representation on the Executive Committee. They also reflect the strong pipeline of talent that we are building. Valerie and Ashok are both great professionals, with a resolute focus on customer and client service, and a track record of delivery.

"This strengthening of the Executive Committee will enhance our ability to execute the TRANSFORM programme, and move Barclays towards our goal of being the 'Go-To' bank."
