The internationalisation of Vienna-based paysafecard group continues. With its prepaid voucher paysafecard, the company is now expanding into Croatia.

In Croatia, the law on the regulation of e-money came into force in January 2011. Since then, companies can apply for a licence to issue e-money products such as paysafecard. The paysafecard group has set up a local subsidiary with headquarters in Zagreb, the paysafecard.com D.O.O., which is now authorised to issue paysafecard PINs in Croatia.

Michael Mueller, CEO of paysafecard group, said: "Within the EU, the issuance of e-money is standardised. Outside the EU, the legal framework often differs significantly from one country to another. That's why we are all the more pleased that Croatia has regulated the issue of e-money fully and that we can launch our product here. In view of the upcoming EU accession of Croatia, this is a very important step for us."

Distribution partner Agrokor guarantees dense network of sales outlets

From the very start, paysafecard has an extensive distribution network in Croatia: Through the partnership with Agrokor Group, paysafecard vouchers are available at 1,500 Tisak kiosks across the country.
