I2C, a provider of payment processing and emerging commerce solutions, and Western Union, a leader in global payment services, have joined forces to bring consumers in the Philippines a unique, feature-rich prepaid card.

The Western Union Gold Prepaid Card was launched recently in the Philippines using i2c's global processing platform, MCP.

Expanding on its existing relationship with i2c, Western Union is leveraging MCP's unique platform capabilities to better meet the needs of Filipino consumers. The Western Union Gold Prepaid Card is the first in the market to allow consumers to direct a Western Union Money Transfer transaction directly onto a card, or utilize a "split payout" option to load part of a remittance onto a card and receive the rest in cash. The card also offers innovative mobile text features that help consumers better manage their money.

"Western Union takes a consumer-centric approach to delivering its stored-value products," said Michael Hafer, Senior Vice President, Global Prepaid at Western Union. "By utilizing i2c, we have been able to take advantage of many unique, cutting-edge processing capabilities to build a prepaid card that offers superior value to consumers."

Amir Wain, CEO of i2c, said, "i2c's organizational agility and global-ready processing platform enable our partners with a global footprint to roll out differentiated, value-driven payment products quickly, and we are delighted to support Western Union in launching this best-in-class prepaid offering."
