PayLane, an online payments provider for e-business, has again been accredited as a PCI DSS Level One Service Provider, which confirms highest security standards.
Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards are a set of rules and standards adopted by such card associations like Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express and Discover. They define business and network security standards in order to protect customers' payment card information. Every merchant that stores, transmits and processes the said sensitive data must meet those requirements.
The requirements that companies have to meet are becoming more challenging due to frequent norm modifications introduced by the PCI Security Standards Council. An independent auditor visited PayLane HQ in late 2011, where he conducted interviews with the staff, checked technical infrastructure, security measures, procedures, encryption methods and data protection. The whole process of renewing the certificate, including the audit, gathering documentation and verification, took almost five months and resulted in accrediting PayLane as a PCI DSS Level One Service Provider.
