Actiance, enablers of the safe and compliant use of unified communications, collaboration and Web 2.0, today announced that Smarsh, the managed service leader in secure and reliable email archiving and compliance solutions, has expanded its agreement with Actiance to include the Socialite platform.

Introduced in August 2010, Socialite provides the necessary security, management and compliance controls for regulated organizations, enabling the granular control of applications such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

The offering integrates Socialite with the sophisticated message archiving and compliance platform from Smarsh, which already features instant messaging controls from Actiance. The platform's simple management interface enables customers to comply with regulatory obligations for recordkeeping, supervision and preservation, such as those outlined in Financial Industry Regulatory Advisory (FINRA) Regulatory Notice 10-06, the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) and impending regulatory changes from the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC).

"We have seen strong and growing interest in social media compliance solutions, and we strive to give our customers the right deployment option for their business objectives," said Stephen Marsh, CEO, Smarsh. "We have tremendous confidence in Actiance and the Socialite platform. Our relationship with Actiance has expanded in the past few years and we believe that the addition of Socialite is an important component to help our customers facilitate compliance across all communications channels."

With Socialite, Smarsh customers have an extended set of feature and content controls for more than 1,000 social networks, enabling compliance with a variety of rules and regulations. From within the Smarsh platform, users can supervise organizational use of social media alongside email, instant messaging, text messaging and other forms of electronic communication. Users can also set controls for more than150 distinct activity and content features within the most popular three social networks - Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter - to meet FINRA, FSA and upcoming IIROC requirements.

"Smarsh's selection of Socialite as a social media compliance partner truly validates that the controls provided by the Actiance platform are second to none," said Sarah Carter, vice president at Actiance. "As financial institutions are increasingly under pressure to comply with a variety of government and legal regulations, Actiance and Smarsh are committed to providing them with the most flexible communications, reliable compliance and archiving solution."
